Duchrow: “[…] now one percent of the population owns one-third of the assets in Germany – I understand “assets” is the word for Vermögen in German – that is of course still going on today and of course we know also of the influence of politics etc., particularly as you see in the new government in Germany with the so-called “Free Democrats” who determined from the beginning there would be no tax on the rich.”

Murrey: “It’s totally insane.”

Duchrow: “So the new coalition immediately, before they could start, were bound to: “no tax on the rich”. So that is one problem which continues to be terrible in terms of the Greek paradigm. But today there is another thing. And that is that this civilization will have an end in one way or another. Because capital is defined [as] a money-asset that must grow. That is the definition of capital compared with money.” 

Murrey: “Right, it’s impossible.”

Duchrow: “Now it is producing absolutely the necessity to grow for the real economy. And that means on this planet this kind of infinite and what already Aristotle says and has analyzed etc. as the limitlessness of this kind of money: [the] capital mechanism in modern times destroys the life-conditions of the earth visibly so you can really see the next years and decades. If you don’t stop that dynamic [from] being the dynamic determining what is economically happening, I mean humanity has no future. So I think it is more than tragedy, it is death.  

Murrey: “Right, it’s a death cult.”
